F-Gas Legislation
A time line/overview of F-Gas key dates
F-gases are gases which contain Fluorine. When emitted in to the atmosphere they contribute to global warming. HFC’s, PFC’s and SF6 are all types of F-gases. In order to protect the environment we need to reduce the amount of F-gases released in to the atmosphere.
Ozone depleting substances also have a negative effect on the environment. They are different to F-gases as the break up the ozone allowing harmful UV radiation through. HCFC’s are Ozone depleting substances.
Both Ozone depleting substances and F-gases are found within air conditioning systems.
The thermometer below shows the important dates relating to both F-gases and Ozone depleting substances. It includes details on legislation that has been introduced, as well as key information for air conditioning users.
